Strawberry Swelter

Updated: Aug 6, 2019

So a little about me. My name is Grayling Alexander. I'm originally from Galveston, but now live in Richmond. I became a beer nerd about 5 years ago, and have been homebrewing for about a year now. This blog is mainly to encourage, educate, and serve as a chance to share my successes and failures as a home brewer.

The first beer I ever brewed was an IPA, and it was a total disaster. I made the decision to use the stove and ran into so many issues; not to mention, a dirty kitchen and a unhappy wife. It came out so bad, I got discouraged and didnt brew again for months. Now I've gotten better, and I just started batch number five.

I'm calling this beer Strawberry Swelter. For one, it's a strawberry blonde, and two, I made the smart decision to brew outside in 104 degree Texas heat on July 4th.

Ingredients used: 4.75 lb Pilsen liquid malt extract, 2 lb domestic 2 row malt,

1 lb Vienna malt, 2 oz crystal hop pellets, 4 oz brewers belt strawberry, and Mangrove yeast.
